What is the drinking age in Ontario?
In Ontario, anyone 19 years of age or over may buy alcoholic beverages from government liquor stores (LCBO), beer stores and at licensed establishments between the hours of 11 am and 2 am. In Ontario it is an offence to consume alcohol anywhere other than a residence or on licensed premises.
Will I be able to use my credit card and/or my ATM card while in Canada?
Currency in Canada is the Canadian Dollar. Many Canadian retail outlets, hotels and restaurants will accept U.S. currency, although often at par with the Canadian dollar. You will be better off exchanging your U.S. currency for Canadian dollars through your bank or a local currency converter. You may be able to use your ATM card in Canada as most ATM machines in are on the Plus or Cirrus network. Check with your local branch about any special conditions or charges. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are widely accepted throughout Canada.
Can I use my AAA membership during my stay in Canada?
CAA (the Canadian Automobile Association) extends member benefits (including maps and road service) to all AAA members. Remember to bring your membership card during your stay in Canada.
What is the difference between speed given in kilometres and those in miles?
Canadian speed limits are posted on road signs in kilometres per hour. 1.6km = 1 mile. Highway speed limits are usually between 80 to 100 km/h or 50 to 65 mph.
On city streets, speed limits are typically 50 km/h or 30-35 mph. To convert miles to kilometres multiply the number of miles by 1.6. To convert miles to kilometres, divide the number of miles by 0.6.
