Set against the backdrop of brilliant fall colour, we invite you to enjoy wonderful culinary and winery experiences, fantastic theatre and cultural performances, plus some of the best golfing in Canada.

 

Something for Every Taste  

Beyond the bustling city streets, the region's landscape is dotted with farmer's fields, fair grounds, horse paddocks and orchards. Field-fresh produce is the star attraction at local cafes and country inns. Explore the homegrown flavours of the region ~ dine with top chefs, find delicious offerings at roadside farm stands, or indulge your senses with a wonderful dining experience.

A full year of activities revolves around our farming life. Come share the fun! You'll find apple and forest festivals, agricultural fairs, and fetes to honour wines, herbs, and wild game. Discover purveyors of hand-made chocolates, fair trade coffee, exotic cheeses and organic produce as you travel the countryside. Tour a local vineyard, visit a cheese factory, or discover the exotic delicacies of the Far East in the south Asian neighbourhoods of Markham. At day's end, linger at an elegant restaurant and relax over a fine pinot gris from one of York Region's emerging wineries.

With big city attractions and country fun to be found in York's family-friendly communities, you're bound to hear the kids say that's "cool"! To enjoy the fall season with the kids, pack up the car, head for York Region and discover great city and country fun with a little education thrown in! There's the thrill and flash of Canada's Wonderland, the excitement of  the NASCAR SpeedPark, and Reptilia, Toronto's only indoor reptile zoo, where kids have the chance to see crocodiles and snakes up close. At night, gaze at the stars through Canada's largest telescope at the David Dunlap Observatory. Then for more activity, challenge the family to a game or two at the Timber Creek Mini Golf & Family Fun Centre. Come and play on the beach at The Wave Pool, an indoor wave pool with 4 ft. waves or board the York-Durham Heritage Railway for a "Moraine Train" fall colour tour.

For those seeking the fine art of "shopping", York Region has plenty of opportunities to indulge your passion. Historic downtown streets with specialty shops, antique stores, upscale malls, and multicultural shopping centres beckon all.  

York Region's small towns are rich in history, romance and culture. Whether you want to shop, dine or go behind closed doors for a peek at history, the centuries-old downtowns of York Region's historic villages offer both traditional charm and modern day pleasures.

If your idea of a great fall getaway includes a weekend of playing a round, then hit the links at some of Canada's most famous golf courses. Tee off at one of the more than 70 golf courses located in York Region, from beginner to expert there is a course for you. The outstanding natural settings throughout the region also make for some exceptional golf courses and scenic fall fairways.
